what a season it was. Ended sooner than had hoped due to a freak bouldering accident but I’m back on my feet and stoked for the upcoming year.
In total
17 weddings
2 ferry shuttle
0 spilled drinks on equipment
Innumerable dap ups
17 great couples with awesome friends
1 torn meniscus (boo)
Fav venue: Stouts Island Lodge
Favorite song of the year to drop: No Air

Truly a great year.

My name’s Joe, I’m an artist from Minnesota, Ham Lake more specifically. I like saying Ham Lake cause what a name yaknow.

I’m a “lot’s of irons in the fire” kinda fella right now, but let me share with you the main vision.

Producer Kick Backs

Currently, I’m building a community night for music producers to come together and share their craft via different challenges.

Each meeting night will have a new prompt (ex. here’s a pack of 10 sounds, here’s a pack of one sound, select a picture and what does that picture sound like to you, a horror film needs a track for the end credits of the film, etc.) and have a 30-40 minute session of producers making something based on the prompt.

After the allotted time, we all gather around and ask for volunteers to showcase their works and allow attendees to ask questions about the process. I’m thinking 3-4 volunteers per night would be ideal.

Once this “show and tell” portion of the night is done we’ll end the night with open fellowship time for attendees to hang out with others who also share their passion.

That’s my brightest burning iron at the moment.

My other irons are throwing the best damn dance party you’ve ever been too (next one is January 4th in Duluth), creating music with my friends, releasing the Teeth Rose hyper pop lover boy projects, and helping Harmony DJ Entertainment scale and occasionally being a Wedding DJ.

There’s lots to manage and cracks have a tendency to love having things fall down them but I’m getting better everyday at managing it all. Creating this website seemed like a great foot forward to manage the things and keep them away from cracks.

This site is supposed to be simple, I like the dullness so that when there is color, that sh*t flares. If you rock with my vision of a website chances are you’ll rock with me and I appreciate that from you deeply.

Thanks for being here.

Roots

In 2013 a dear friend of mine told me about Ableton, the spread sheet looking software seemed too daunting for my thirteen year old brain at the time but creaked open the door of DAW’s and I found Fruity Loops which appeared more approachable to me thus falling the first domino for my passion of cooking up songs, beats, and noise.

Since then, we’ve thrown parties, convinced our high school to let us DJ our own school dances, DJ’ed my first wedding at 16, I went on to study Ableton at a production school in California, we both started our own projects, and have only grown our love for music.

That dear friend isn’t on this world anymore and I miss him every day. I wouldn’t even have this site if he never told me about the world he was exploring twelve years ago. Every time I DJ or produce I’m reminded of his craft and grateful for his sharing it with me.

Long live Merck
